Paris, the capital city of France, is among the most popular tourist attractions in the world. It is also known as the ‘City of Light‘. It is always on the top of the Wishlist.

Paris, the capital city of France, has a beautiful culture. Its deep-rooted customs and traditions make it one of the most prominent cultures in the world.

The French people are really lively. They enjoy social gatherings and functions. Family values are deeply embedded in French culture. The weekdays are spent in the office, and weekends are strictly kept for family.

Most of the population follows Christianity, so you will find many churches in the capital city.

Equality and unity are the two principles followed in France. These are the two rights that the French fought for during the French Revolution.

The French also take pride in the beauty and artistry of their country, which is visible in their monuments and landmarks.

The world’s recognized monuments make Paris the most visited capital in the world. It is impossible to imagine a city boasting its architectural masterpiece at every kilometre.

From the Eiffel Tower to the Palais du Luxembourg (the house of the French Senate, the upper house of parliament), the French capital monuments are not only landmarks but their identity.

The highrise towers and modern art museums make Paris the seeker’s paradise, the reason the capital city is always flooded with tourists.

Here is the list of the most iconic monuments of the French capital.

One of the most famous monuments in the world, the Eiffel Tower is the iconic landmark of Paris. The 324-meter-tall iron tower in the heart of Paris represents Paris in the world. The vibrant structure was constructed a hundred years ago and is known as ‘La Tower Eiffel’ by the locals.

Interestingly, the tower has been featured in various movies and TV shows such as Spy Kids, Tomorrow Land, and Murder Mystery 2. The tower was labelled the most romantic place because of its beautiful and elegant construction.

Though the tower is beautiful from afar, the view from the observation deck at 276 meters is unmatched. There are two ways to climb the tower: stairs and an escalator. If you feel energetic, take the stairs.

If you are not so brave, use the elevator. Be sure about using the stairs because there are a staggering 1665 steps to reach the top.

There is a bird’s eye view at the top that is adorable. To add to your knowledge, the Eiffel Tower is lit during the sunset, and that sight is magical. This is why visitors prefer visiting the monument after sunset.

It was built to be the centre of attraction of the Paris International exhibition at the World’s Fair in 1889. The Eiffel Tower presently witnesses the footfall of thousands of visitors.

The tickets for the Eiffel Tower can be purchased online or on the spot. You can expect a long queue at the venue.

The interiors of the cathedral are awe-inspiring. The unique features of the cathedral are the majestic ten bells (two large in the south and eight smaller ones in the north tower) and the stained glass windows.

The famous bell tower is also located at Notre Dame Cathedral.

Unfortunately, the cathedral was severely damaged during the French Revolution. Many are unaware that the building has been renovated several times in the past years without any noticeable changes to the original design of the building.

The cathedral was featured in one of the novels ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame‘ by famous French author Victor Hugo.

Owing to the importance of this famous landmark, the French government passed a special law in 2019 to protect the cathedral’s original design. The target is to complete the reconstruction of the building by the 2024 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris.
