Prague is the beer capital, and the Czech Republic consumes more beer per capita than any other country, which they flaunt proudly.

It is said that beer is even cheaper than water here!

Prague is also known for its monastery breweries, scenic beer gardens and underground cellar pubs, attracting many tourists and locals.

The Beer Spa Experience is widely known for being the best and original beer spa globally.

They offer experiences fit for relaxation as a couple or a group of friends.

Besides, what more would one want than to soak in a beer spa, feel relaxed and have fun simultaneously? Where else could one go where they can both drink beer and soak in beer simultaneously?

1. History of Beer Spas

The first ever spas were created in Ancient China and Egypt, where they believed it had medicinal benefits like better immunity as well as betterment in personal hygiene.

Soon after, beer baths were created for the same purpose.

Our older generations, folk healers, believed that yeast, a byproduct of beer production, was the key to curing various diseases.

The Czech Republic is known for its beer and holds many of the best beer spas in various towns like mariánské lázně, Karlovy and many others.

The only significant difference between the ancient beer spas and the modern ones is that today, each keg has two taps, and each serves dark and light beer, which all are predominantly self-made.

The beer spa Prague trend started crazily and spread around like wildfire.

2. What to Expect at a Beer Spa in Prague?

A beer spa is pretty similar to regular spas; it consists of a reception area and a private room that you get to share with your friends.

In these rooms are 1,000-litre tubs made of royal oak, in which the ingredients for the beer, the beer extracts such as ground hops, malt, powdered brewer’s yeast and herbs can be immersed in hot water.

You get to enjoy this, and the best part that comes along with it is the unlimited Czech beer from beer taps!

Prague’s beer spas are a refreshing twist everyone should want to try because, similar to typical spas, instead of hot stones it is the cool beer. It is the unconcealed encouragement to drink at whatever time of the day!

3. How it Begins

Once you arrive, the room will be set up for you, and by then, you will be asked to start drinking. You can look at beer products in the meantime.

When you check into the room, the hostess will fill your tub.

She explains each ingredient before she adds it to the water and gives you general instructions related to the spa.

The most important one is to keep time because you would not get even a minute extra; the timer is set.

Each session is about one hour long.

During this hour, you can enjoy a bed of warmed hay or wheat straw where you can lay down, relax and eat bread. Yes, believe it or not, everything is beer-related!

A standard session provides towels, dressing gowns and slippers, so you are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes before your sessions.

If you are more comfortable, you can bring your swimsuit, but since all the sessions are in private caves, some choose to go nude, too, which is not an issue either.

Once your time is complete, you have 15 minutes to shower, dress up and leave the room; the hostess is unapologetic about this.

So remember to utilise your time well; they teach you time management! You are escorted out, where you can continue drinking beer, taking pictures, or whatever you wish to make your experience with.

Many spas also provide extra services such as beer-based products, massages consisting of beer spa treatment and hot essences. It is truly an all-in-one experience.

Various packages are available depending on the beer spa you visit and its services.

4. Benefits of Beer Spas

People of the Czech Republic believed that beer consumption was very beneficial to the body; this belief dates back thousands of years, so who is to disagree?

Some of the benefits are:

  • Ease of muscle tension

Both the bubbles and the warm water help release stress and reduce tensed muscles.

  • Vitamin B

Beer is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants. The beer provides the individual’s skin with all the essential requirements for glowing and healthy skin.

  • Treats psoriasis and acne

As mentioned, it has various antioxidants that provide the needed requirements for your skin and help to revitalize it.

  • Increases metabolism

Brewer’s yeast contains Vitamin B, which improves digestion.

It helps in the treatment of chronic arthritis and cardiovascular disease.

  • Hydration

Proteins and various minerals like Zinc, Magnesium and Selenium help in the hydration of the skin.

  • Relaxation

This doesn’t require an explanation, as already known; it provides physical and mental relaxation.

The relaxing warm beer bath, massages, aromatherapy and infrared sauna contribute to the relaxation process.

  • Detoxification of the body

It opens up pores, improving blood circulation, rekindling the immune system and improving skin and hair.

  • Frees up cellulite

You will not believe it, but just soaking up in a hot tub after a beer bath is said to free up built-up cellulite in the body.

There are many benefits, from just a dream getaway from our busy lives to improved mental and physical health, and the beer spa does it all!

5. Are Beer Spas in Prague Worth it?

If the benefits do not cut it out for you, go for the surreal experience of your lifetime. The unique experience of laying on a warm straw bed and sipping beer from your tap in your oak tub is certainly not to miss.

This is the perfect spot for those looking for a fun new experience and just for the laughs of it.

So, even for those on a tight budget, you would not want to miss this.

I mean, who doesn’t want an hour of free unlimited beer(both dark and light)? Free beer bread? Beer spa? Massages? Beer products all at affordable rates?

If you want something completely different, you can always visit a beer spa with its cosy, warm, relaxed aura, stone cellars, wood carvings, stained glass, and warm hay beds.

Something that takes you away from the modern-day lifestyle.

7. Seven Things to Remember Before Visiting a Beer Spa in Prague

7.1 Make a Reservation

This is the most crucial step because you must make a reservation in good time due to its trendiness and a few rooms per spa.

Some have to make reservations as early as a month before the visit.

7.2 Arrive Early

Always arrive 5-15 minutes prior, giving you enough time to settle in.

Not to forget, there are beer taps at the reception, so you can begin drinking right then!

7.3 Wear Your Swimwear

It is advised to come wearing your swimwear or what you plan to wear for the spa under your clothes.

Due to its full popularity, the spas are strict on the one-hour timings. So, to make the most of your experience, waste minimal time taking off and putting on clothes.

7.4 Always Try the Free Bread Given in Beer Spas in Prague

As normal as the bread is, trying their delicious beer bread is recommended, and a side benefit is it helps soak up all the beer you will consume in that hour.

7.5 Master Quick Changing

With you being on a literal egg timer, every minute counts. You have to fit in changing, showering and spa time all in an hour. If it is not a marathon, I don’t know what it is.

7.6 Remember to Shower

Even though the beer spa leaves your skin smooth and soft, it is advised to shower to remove the green clumps left on your skin due to the hops.

Remember not to use any soap to leave the soft feeling on your skin for longer.

7.7 Treat Yourself to the Beer Products

They have various products like bath foams, shower gels, shampoos, soaps.

To indulge in the full experience, always get some beer products, as these are made from guaranteed organic ingredients.

They work wonders for your skin, and they are also the perfect souvenir and gift for yourself and your loved ones.

7.8 Carry Your Footwear When Visiting a Beer Spa

Saves you a lot of bruises and discomfort.

The places listed above are the best beer spas in Prague.

From the cost to the services offered, from the rooms to the products and souvenirs, it all depends on the place you are in, the beer spa you are in, its overall atmosphere, and, of course, its popularity with the people in the area.

8. Things to Take Note of Before Visiting a Beer Spa in Prague

Even though this seems to be a pleasant experience, it is not always so because people complain about various disadvantages.

For instance, their footwear is tough on the feet, making you prone to falling and thus giving the visitor bruises.

Another complaint is the feeling of constantly being rushed, especially towards the end of the spa, where you are trying to soak in whatever is left of the experience.

9. Why Should You Go to a Beer Spa?

This fun, relaxing, unusual, out-of-the-books experience can not be found anywhere else, with the various reviews shared online.

It is full of how refreshed and rejuvenated they feel after the beer spa.

If you feel there is no reason to go, go for the health benefits and if not, go and enjoy the feeling of something so absurd. This has worked for generations.

Trust me, you will become a fan of beer bathing and soaking, hoping you will get it wherever you live.

Conclusion

With all of this information, this is everything you need to know for your first beer spa in Prague experience and from all of this.

I hope you have gotten the idea of how unmissable the experience is when you visit Prague.

Add this to the top of your bucket list because getting a reservation is worth all the effort.

It makes a fun experience to share with your partner or as a group of friends and an even better story.
